Tecniplast Panorama News, one of the most known Magazine in LAS distributed at WW level in more than 15,000 copies, has recently interviewed Dr Marcello Raspa, author of the article “Towards large scale automated cage monitoring – Diurnal rhythm and impact of interventions on in cage activity of C57BL/6J mice recorded 24/7 with a non-disrupting capacitive based technique”.
Dr Raspa, ph.D., D.V.M. at CNR -EMMA/Infrafrontier – International Facility and Mouse Clinique (EU -ESFRI), describes the objective of the study and its conclusions, as well as the added value of the DVC®.
This revolutionary technology, in facts, effectively sets new boundaries in research through the collection of data that can explain and show animal activity from cages 24/7, and especially during the night when animals are supposed to better express their phenotype and behaviour.
These data, moreover, can be obtained without moving animals outside the home cage, thus reducing stress and possibly confounding factors.
Dr Raspa pointed out that PIs will take a consistent advantage using the DVC®, with a higher level of reliability, robustness and reproducibility of experimental studies.
Dr Raspa concludes his enthusiastic interview indicating the most important research applications that can benefit from the adoption of the DVC® Technology, forecasting that in 10-year time Digital Ventilated Cages will be adopted by most infrastructures, duplicating the IVC success story.
