ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: OUR APPROACH

Environmental Management is a natural part of Tecniplast’s business operations: society and the global environment’s benefit are our “green” priorities. In order to be the most environmentally progressive Lab Animal Company and an enduring global industrial champion, Tecniplast has developed a Company Wide Environmental Action Plan focusing on:

  1. Green Product Strategy
  2. Product management

Green Product Strategy

At Tecniplast we aim to create resource-efficient designs and highly recyclable products, manufactured through an energy-efficient production process, and specifically:

  • Reduce power and water consumption per performance, as well as contributeto reduce the customers’ CO2 emissions.
  • Design environmentally-friendly products:
    • Eco Design concept - less material used per product
    • Recycling maximization after life cycle
    • Elimination of specific hazardous substances

R&D - Virtual Testing

Besides real product trials, Tecniplast Research & Development engineers perform virtual tests: mathematical models simulate moulds, tools and prototypes. This helps reducing the environmental impact of new product development processes, while outputting great amounts of reliable data than could be otherwise gathered only through conventional testing.

Manufacturing - Advanced Systems

Tecniplast’s quest for higher efficiency and less waste continues on the shop floor itself. The innovative technological solutions in place in our production facilities yield a substantial reduction in the overall required energy – the replacement of metal components by plastic ones requires fewer moulding and welding operations.

Logistics - Ecological efficiency in packaging and logistics

Our products (e.g. racks) are shipped out already assembled, thus reducing transport volumes and the amount of packaging materials (carton, plastic film etc.) needed. The distribution system cuts down heavy vehicle emissions, savings millions of miles of road transport as well as tons and tons of packaging materials.
