From April 9-11, 2024, the third edition of the Digital Vivarium Forum took place at the Tecniplast Congress Center.
The event was fully booked and attracted more than 130 attendees in person from over 20 countries, with an additional 150 participants joining online. Over the span of three days, 38 speakers shared their insights on a wide range of topics, including Animal Facility Management, Animal Welfare, and the most recent scientific and technological advancements.
The first day focused on Facility Management and Animal Welfare, showcasing how the Digital Vivarium Concept improves operational efficiencies by reducing resource requirements and operational expenses. Presentations highlighted the role of DVC® in addressing and anticipating animal welfare concerns, especially in detecting behavioral anomalies such as potential fighting and stereotypic behaviors.
The second day revolved around revolutionary scientific discoveries, such as new techniques for early diabetes detection by analyzing polyuria directly in the home cage and innovative methods for identifying newborns by analyzing their vocalizations starting at birth.
The third and final day featured more scientific presentations, including a significant one on the possibility and importance of repurposing data in digital home cage monitoring systems.
Overall, the Forum offered a valuable networking and knowledge-sharing platform, complemented by enjoyable social gatherings and delicious food, bringing together experts and enthusiasts from around the globe.
